It would be an understatement to say I read this book. I practically devoured it at an unimaginable pace.

Initially, I had been recommended another book by the same author, but when it was out of stock, I picked this one instead.

I am so glad I did.

Honestly, it called out to me—especially because of one compelling line on the back cover:

I'll make it clear from the start: I did not kill Hugh Henry Van Boren. I didn't even help...Well, not intentionally.

— Jess Choudhary

The story is set in an elite school, home to the children of the wealthy and powerful. Jess Choudhary, the protagonist, is a scholarship student at this prestigious institution.

The book begins by introducing the various characters within the school and setting the scene. For an assignment, Jess writes a story featuring an innovative method of murder, hoping to impress her teacher. Little does she know that someone would use her fictional method to kill one of the school’s most popular students, Hugh Henry Van Boren.

On the night after the murder, Jess receives an anonymous message from the killer, thanking her for the inspiration. This ominous message sends her to the police, but it also puts her directly in the murderer’s crosshairs, as she begins receiving threats.

Adding to the mystery is the presence of a secretive club within the school, shrouded in secrecy and intrigue, further complicating the investigation.

What follows is a race against time as Jess scrambles to solve Hugh’s murder before the killer catches up with her.

The story is filled with twists and turns till the very last page. What I loved most about this book is the way each chapter ends on a cliffhanger, leaving you craving more and compelling you to keep reading.

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment, and I only wish I could experience it again for the first time.

I highly recommend this book. It’s a solid 11/10.

With its relentless suspense and sharp twists, This Book Kills is more than just a gripping read—it’s a thrilling experience. If you’re looking for a story that has keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves you dumbfounded with every new twist, this one is a must read.

And it’s safe to say that if Ravena Guron’s other books are even half as captivating, I will be diving into them next. Stay tuned, because there’s definitely more to come.
